Hi Cliff,
A little email to thank you and Ed and the committee for all your
hard work. We arrived home on Monday and we truly enjoyed
ourselves. We met so many wonderful people at the reunion and
we are so happy that we decided to attend the reunion. I did take
some pictures. I'm not a great picture taker but if any of them are
suitable I will send them to you. You are such a dedicated person
and it truly shows. Thank you again for welcoming us and we will
be in touch.

Terry Wiebenga Well, well, well . . . . My feet are finally back on
the ground after being on Cloud Nine at the "Reunion" in
Orlando! Many thanks to those who took their time and effort to
bring the whole thing off . . . . and special thanks to the the guys
and gals who took their time and effort to be there! What's the
use of a finely planned party and no one shows up? I've been
blessed by being there with all of you, and for the reconnection
to a " Once upon a time . . . . ." part of my life. Thank you for
sharing yourselves with me . . . then and now! God bless us all,
and God bless the United States of American!
Kathleen Pollock Schuppenhauer An event not to miss. It went

Journey of a Flag
I got to wondering the other day
About the journey of a flag
Upon the dresser sits the case
That holds a loved one’s flag
Stitched stars caught my eye
As I walked by beckoning me
To have a passing memory
Of the person who in life
Earned that very fabric
Where did this flag originate
And was it by machine or man
How many on a daily basis are
Packaged and ready for shipment
Made in the U.S.A. cloth
Sent to accompany a soldier home
A comforting blanket providing
The warmth of their country
The travels do not end there
For it takes its place of honor
Providing solace and strength
Gloved hands present it to a
Family member who clutches it
To their bosom as though it were
The very person and all the emotions
Pour into this tangible material
Of stars and stripes
Now it sits in someone’s home
A shrine if you will
Encased in glass and wood
Protecting the precious threads
That symbolize what it means
To be an American
To have our freedom
And what it took to fight for
Those inalienable rights
More than a piece of cloth
This flag!

Our Dreams
We spoke the words
That contained our dreams
Like special treasures
Locked away in a secret place
That only our youth held the key
These simple desires were
Waiting to be fulfilled
Desires as fresh as
Flowers in bloom
The world was ours
For the taking
Those precious moments
For some, did not occur
Stolen unfairly
The youth were cheated
Their dreams shattered
Like a broken mirror
Seven years of bad luck
Some would say
But for the youth
Of the sixties
Over 58,000 dreams
Ceased to exist
We were young once
We were young.

Welcome Home My Brothers
Welcome Home my brothers
It’s good to see you again
I don’t know each and every name
But I know where you’ve been
You left to serve your country
In far and distant lands
Europe, Korea, Vietnam
Even burning sands
Welcome Home my brothers
Your youth you left behind
To face what all you had to do
Braver men you cannot find
Some lost a limb, some lost a friend
The scars run true and deep
Some as yet have not returned
For them the vigil we keep
Welcome Home my brothers
You deserve our thanks today
Somehow it don’t seem quite
enough
There must be more that we can say
For it’s through you that we live
With the freedoms we cherish true
You witnessed the other side of life
We owe our gratitude to you.
Welcome Home!

Youth of Our Time
They were the youth of our time
Remember their look and their
smiles
The government gave them a
number
For that they marched many a mile
Some willing to serve their country
Some maybe not so willing
Where is this Vietnam
Stories were oh so chilling
Like lambs led to slaughter
The youth found out soon enough
What they were doing in this
Vietnam
Made the goings so very tough
Days turned into months
Months turned into years
The youth continued to fight and die
Inside the valley of tears
While at home the hippies made
love
The protesters marched along too
Soldiers returning from the war
Spat upon, no recognition due
Took years for the world to make
amends
Forever to the soldiers that died
Men who have never grown old
They remain the youth in our eyes.
