Today, Sonjia Smith, Capt. J. J. Smith's daughter, drove to our home and brought me J.J.'s, favorite
cowboy boots as a present. We initially knew J.J. was a senior Capt at Korat. He was first a copilot in the
553rd Recon Wing and later became a full Aircraft Commander. Sonjia, you were so very generous with
one of J.J.'s posesions; his favorite cowboy boots. Sonjia told me how her Dad, enjoyed his cowboy
boots oh so much. If you recall, J.J. was the senior Copilot on Frank's (a.k.a. Frickie) crew #34.
We had a great time together and it meant so much to me and to her that Frank and I came to her Father's
funeral at the Arlington National Cemetery during 2009, as you know. Frank drove all the way up to
Virginia from Florida to attend J.J.'s funeral with me.
Both Sonjia and I shed some tears together about the passing of her wonderful Father, J. J., and the fact
that she wanted to donate his boots to me was such an honor to even try to understand her generosity. I
am a blessed man to receive them and feel extremely honored to have such a wonderful keepsake and
remembrance of an outstanding pilot and a great leader of men in combat and life in general.
She is so proud to be a part of the Batcat Brotherhood Family.

All,
For anyone that hasn't made it to the National Museum of the USAF yet, technology has now brought the museum to you.
This is going to save all of us a lot of shoe leather, that's for sure (and maybe even a few plane tickets too).
Several tips to get you started:
1. Click on any dot on the map to see what's around you at that point.
2. You can "x off" the map for an unobstructed view of the planes. A small "Map" icon is available in the corner of the
screen so you can easily go back to the overall view whenever you want.
3. The best part of this is being able to take a walking tour of the entire facility, just like you were there. Click on the blue
arrows on the floor to move through each building. You will have to wait after clicking on the blue arrow to have the
sreen change. At any time you can use the left of right arrow keys to see around you. Sometimes, I found that I needed to
use thse left and right arrow keys to find the next blue arrow on the floor.
Enjoy. Jim Satterwhite
